Sieas Elliot, Destiny Gardner, Varick Lawrence Car Accident – Obituary: Stillman College Student Killed in Fatal Crash

Stillman College is mourning the tragic loss of current student Sieas Elliot and alumni Destiny Gardner and Varick Lawrence, who died in a car accident in the Atlanta metro area on the evening of May 23, 2025.

Dr. Yolanda W. Page, president of Stillman College, expressed her grief, stating, “The spirit of each of these proud Stillmanites will live on with all who were greeted by their warm smiles and welcoming personalities. Our entire Stillman College community mourns this heartbreaking loss.”

Sieas Elliot, from Stockbridge, Georgia, had recently completed his baseball career at Stillman and was planning to return for the 2025-2026 academic year as a student assistant coach. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Destiny Gardner, a 2022 graduate from Montgomery, Alabama, served as the 74th Miss Stillman and was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She worked as a juvenile officer and is remembered for her leadership and compassion. She shared a young son with Varick Lawrence.

Varick Lawrence, a native of Lithonia, Georgia, played baseball at Stillman from 2021-2023 and was a coach in the Atlanta area. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

The college’s Athletics Director, Terrance Whittle, shared his condolences, noting, “Their legacy will live on at Stillman through the relationships they formed while here.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Stillman alumna and Tuscaloosa City Council District 7 representative Cassius Lanier posted on Facebook, “Prayers up for my Stillman College family and families of our Stillmanites who lost their lives.”

The Stillman College community extends condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the three students during this difficult time.
