KWARYA TA BI KWARYA Complete Document Written By Binta Umar Abbale

Description

Upon entering the emirate, I was taken aback by the sight of numerous servants aligned in every direction, heads bowed in unison, restrained from any abrupt movements. In a designated booth, I observed the emirate’s parents seated on luxurious chairs, flanked by two individuals in red attire who seemed to be addressing them with urgency while someone played a flute, creating an atmosphere of solemnity.

As the tranquility persisted, the courtiers rose to their feet upon seeing His Highness preparing to stand. Waziri Galadima Ciroma, noting the majesty’s movement, prompted everyone to stand out of respect. The flute players, seemingly confused, migrated towards the parked cars, engaging in the harmonious melody of the algaita and flute.

Amidst the silence, a prominent figure emerged from one of the vehicles. With a swift exit, he extended his greetings to the awaiting crowd. “Welcome back to the kingdom of heritage, Aliyu Haidar, the man of the lion, the king-in-waiting. Your return brings joy to the kingdom, and all beneath it rejoice for your safe homecoming,” exclaimed the speaker, his words echoing through the vast space.

As Aliyu Haidar attempted to alight from the car, a peculiar struggle unfolded. One foot descended, while the other seemed reluctant to follow suit, creating a moment of amusement for onlookers. Some, unaware of his background, joined in the jesting, particularly Sumayya, a servant’s child eagerly awaiting his appearance.

Aliyu Haidar, maintaining composure, eventually stepped out of the car, casting aside his black glasses to avoid direct eye contact. Known for his aversion to making faces, especially towards women, he walked calmly, the subject of whispers and curious glances.

Accompanied by two young men in royal attire, Aliyu Haidar wore a suit, compelled by Shatima and Moddibo to don a cloak at the airport. Servants adorned his feet with a long white garment as he made his way towards the emirate’s parents.

Surrounded by friends and relatives, he kept a stoic expression while photographers and journalists documented his every move. Despite the well-wishes and cheers from the people, Aliyu Haidar remained aloof, maintaining a lowered head and an air of indifference. Unfazed by the comments regarding his perceived lack of warmth, he continued his walk, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.

At the insistence of my parents, I redirected my attention towards our slave farm, seeking respite from the constant activity. The bustling scene and the enigmatic demeanor of Aliyu Haidar lingered in my mind as I departed.
