She sprinted relentlessly, her breaths coming in gasps. Every time she glanced over her shoulder, her distress grew. She ran until her legs carried her down the unfamiliar street, lost in her frantic escape.

As she continued, her head hung low, exhaustion setting in. Unbeknownst to her, she had wandered into the road. Suddenly, she heard a car screeching to a halt. She muttered a prayer of gratitude, “Alaihi rajiun,” as a young man stepped out of the car.

In a state of panic, he rushed to her side, noticing that she wasn’t breathing. He implored the doctor at Mallam Aminu’s hospital in Kano, “Please, Dr., save her! Don’t let her slip away. I don’t know what happened.”

The doctor, alarmed by her condition, immediately took action. “Let’s get her inside,” he instructed, and they rushed her to the hospital. Dr. Marwan began to work tirelessly, relying on his medical expertise and the power of faith to revive her.

Time passed, and slowly, she began to breathe again. Dr. Marwan let out a sigh of relief. “She’s stable now,” he informed the anxious young man. “But she needs rest and care. Go home and bring someone who can look after her.”

“Okay, Dr. But please, help her. I’ll be back,” the young man pleaded. Before Dr. Marwan could respond, the young man hurriedly exited, desperate to attend to urgent matters.

Dr. Marwan watched him leave and then turned his attention to his next task. He opened the office door and faced a waiting patient. “Come in,” he said, trying to regain his composure. “We have a lot of work to do.”

As the young man ran down the street, his mind was in turmoil. Thoughts raced through his head, and tears welled up in his eyes. He stopped at the side of the road, overwhelmed by his emotions.

His phone began to ring, snapping him out of his reverie. He slowly retrieved it, but the words caught in his throat as he answered the call.

“What? Subhanallah!” he exclaimed, his heart heavy. “What happened?” He hit the steering wheel in frustration, hot tears streaming down his face.
