Born on August 6, 1970, David was a man of remarkable character, whose warm smile, twinkling blue eyes, and gentle demeanor reflected the depth of his compassion. He was a loving husband to Nina, with whom he shared an enduring and profound love. Their marriage was built on mutual respect and unwavering support, and together, they raised their three children—daughters Serena and Hannah, and son Pavan. David’s devotion to his children was unparalleled, always offering wisdom, guidance, and a strong foundation of love and encouragement.

David’s love extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a cherished son to his parents, Casey and Lucy Piatek, whose values of humility and compassion he embraced throughout his life. As a brother to Susan Janicki (Bob) and a son-in-law to Balbir and Janak Taheem, David formed close, enduring bonds that added to the richness of his life. His extended family knew him affectionately as “Jeej,” and he was a beloved brother-in-law to Vickey Taheem, Rosie Hansraj (Raveen), Neetu Sodhi (Charan), Seema Vij (Karun), and Bittu Taheem (Sukhman).

As an uncle and great-uncle, David’s affection knew no bounds. His nieces and nephews—Alyssa, Justin (Rachel), Lucas, Ojas, Katrina, and Veda—were always met with his warmth and love, and he was especially proud of his great-nephew, Zaiden.

David’s life will be celebrated in a series of services designed to honor the extraordinary man he was. Visitation will take place at Turner and Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, Ontario, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 8:15 pm. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by David are invited to come together to share memories and offer support during this difficult time.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 9:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 4260 Cawthra Road, Mississauga, Ontario. Following the Mass, a Funeral Service will take place at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium, 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, Ontario, in the Magnolia Room from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Though the pain of losing David is profound, his legacy remains powerful. His life is a testament to the impact one individual can have when they live with love, humility, and compassion. David taught those around him how to be better—better listeners, better friends, and better people.
