Brooklin Makhia Car Accident Roanoke, Virginia Death – Obituary: Xaviar James Gaither Arrested

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with DUI and manslaughter following a fatal crash early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

At approximately 3:24 a.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Gainsboro Road and Harrison Avenue NW. Upon arrival, officers discovered a white BMW 540i overturned in a tree, with two women inside the vehicle and two men outside.

One of the women, identified as 22-year-old Brooklin Makhia Goff from Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman was transported to a local hospital and has since been released after treatment. One of the men is still being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Xaviar James Gaither of Roanoke, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with DUI and manslaughter.

Authorities report that Gaither was driving at a high speed north on Gainsboro Road SW when he attempted to switch lanes near the intersection with Patton Avenue NW. The vehicle hit the curb on the east side of the street, veered off the road, struck a streetlight, became airborne, and ultimately landed in a tree.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to determine if additional charges will be filed.
