Accident on 1431 Today Travis County, Texas — A deadly crash along FM 1431 near Jonestown in northwestern Travis County caused major traffic delays Wednesday after two vehicles collided, leaving one person dead and another critically injured.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, emergency crews responded to the serious crash shortly before noon on May 13 along FM 1431 near Pecan Drive. The collision involved two vehicles and resulted in a fatality at the scene.
Officials confirmed that one adult victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second patient suffered critical injuries and was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for emergency treatment.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office, along with Travis County ESD crews, remained on scene for several hours as investigators worked to determine what caused the crash. Authorities warned drivers to expect significant traffic disruptions and advised motorists to avoid the area while emergency personnel cleared the roadway.
The fatal accident occurred on a heavily traveled stretch of FM 1431, a roadway known for high traffic volumes connecting parts of Travis County, Cedar Park, Lago Vista, and Marble Falls.
At this time, the identity of the deceased victim has not been publicly released pending family notification. Investigators have also not confirmed whether speed, weather, or impairment may have contributed to the crash.
